Accessible Information Standard- Poster

The Accessible Information Standard (AIS) is a set of guidelines in the UK that ensures that people with disabilities, particularly those who have communication or sensory impairments, receive information in formats that they can understand. This standard is particularly relevant within the National Health Service (NHS) and other care services in England. The goal is to make sure that information is accessible to everyone, regardless of their communication needs.

Healthcare providers must identify if an individual has any information or communication needs related to a disability or sensory loss. This could include individuals who are blind, deaf, or have a learning disability.

To meet the needs of employees and patients providers must take steps to meet the identified needs of that individual. This could include providing information in large print, braille, easy read formats, or arranging for a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter.

The AIS is important because it helps to eliminate barriers to accessing healthcare and ensures that all individuals, regardless of disability, have equal access to information and services. This promotes better health outcomes and a more inclusive healthcare environment.

Workplaces can write their information on the bottom of each poster showing point of contact.   The individual can then contact the correct person to access appropriate help.
